Freemasonry in Lewes

Lodge of Peace and Fraternity No. 9141

A membership-led Craft lodge that meets five times a year and dines together afterwards.

Do you want to widen your social circle, develop new friendships and strengthen your interpersonal skills? The Lodge of Peace and Fraternity could be what you are looking for.

The lodge was established in 1984 and has met in Lewes only since 2023. It is membership-led, and in recent years it has worked to give the best Masonic experience at a competitive cost.

Meetings

The lodge meets five times a year: on the third Thursday in March, April, June and September, and the second Thursday in December. Meetings follow the Sussex Ritual and usually start at 17.30. Afterwards members go to a local restaurant or hostelry for dinner. The December dinner is usually black tie, and wives, partners and friends are welcome.

Learning and social life

Throughout the year the lodge holds a voluntary class of instruction, to help members improve their Masonic knowledge and skills and build confidence in presenting. It is a good way to meet members informally. There are also social events through the year, and members, partners and friends are always welcome.

Charity

Charitable giving is central to what we do. We support Masonic charities nationally and locally, and we also help local non-Masonic charities and individuals. The lodge is a patron of the Association of Friends of Barford Court, which provides additional help to the residents of the Masonic residential home in Hove. See Barford Court.

Cost

Membership is currently £160.00 a year, and dining is usually about £25.00.
