Freemasonry in Lewes

Charity and welfare

Giving is at the heart of Freemasonry. Here is how Lewes Masons help.

Kindness and giving are at the heart of Freemasonry. Every lodge raises money for charity, and members give their time as well.

Locally

Each lodge in Lewes chooses the causes it supports. Pelham Lodge, for example, gives monthly to Masonic charities, collects for the Benevolent Fund, and has supported local organisations including St Catherine's Hospice, St Peter and St James Hospice and Chailey Heritage Enterprise Centre. The Lodge of Peace and Fraternity is a patron of the Association of Friends of Barford Court, which helps the residents of the Masonic residential home in Hove. See the pages for Pelham Lodge and the Lodge of Peace and Fraternity.

Nationally

The Masonic Charitable Foundation, the Freemasons' charity, is the national grant-giving arm. It works with some of the biggest charities in the country, and funds medical research and disaster relief.

Looking after our own

Lodges also remember the families of members. Pelham Lodge, for instance, sends a Christmas gift to every widow. To ask about any of this, contact us.
