Freemasonry is open to men aged 18 or over, whatever their race or religion. You do not have to know anyone who is a Mason, and you do not have to be invited.
People join for many reasons: to meet like-minded people, to build confidence, or to support worthy causes. We are not in it for personal gain.
Take the first step
- Read about the lodges that meet in Lewes on the lodges page.
- Choose one or two that sound right and get in touch.
- Meet some of the members for a chat, often at a social event, before you decide anything.
There is no obligation, and you are welcome to ask about more than one lodge.

Come and see the Temple
The Lewes Temple is at Freemasons Hall, 148 High Street, Lewes, BN7 1XT. It is open to the public on Lewes Heritage Day each year. Read about visiting and the history of the building.
